Jane Burry
Jane Burry is a registered practicing architect and Research Fellow in the Spatial Information Architecture Laboratory (SIAL) at The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT University), Melbourne, Australia where she was a founding member at its inception in 2001. Her research into geometry and mathematics in contemporary architectural ideation and representation has led to the book The New Mathematics of Architecture (co-authored with Mark Burry, Thames and Hudson, in press 2010). She is also engaged in related research into ways of structuring digital design models for flexibility, sharing and consensual representation of design conversations across multidisciplinary teams and has published widely in those areas. Her primary interest is in the implication of ‘system’ taking centre stage from ‘object’ in design representation and the more direct mapping from design interrogation to geometry that this implies. Jane is a visiting Senior Research Fellow at Queensland University of Technology.
