Eliana Herrera-Vega’s Details

Biographical Info: Eliana Herrera-Vega holds a double PhD degree in philosophy from
University of Paris 8 and University of Quebec in Montreal. She is also a
lawyer and a
political scientist. She teaches at the Communication Departments of the
University of Ottawa. She is currently a board member
of the Research Committee on Futures Research RC07 ISA, and was
vice-scientific director of the World Complexity Science Academy. Her
research deals with the modalities of inter-systemic communication in the
current conditions of exponential complexity of society. She authored the
book “Trafic de drogues et Capitalisme” (2006), and here more recent
publications are The politics of torture in antagonistic politics, and its displacement by the regime of the arts: Abu Ghraib, Colombian paramilitaries and Fernando Botero Current Sociology, (2011). Explorations on the Notion of Legal Tolerance World Futures 68 (4-5):280 – 295 (2012). She also analyzed the political communications of torture and its relationship with the legal system in a contribution to collective book ‘La rationalité pénale moderne Réflexions théoriques et explorations empiriques’ (Dubé, Garcia and Machado 2013).
